This wood-fired stoneware piece carries the signature of the kiln. Its surface is a conversation between ash and flame. Thrown by hand, cone-fired at high temperature, it holds warmth and weight. Whether you place it at the heart of your dining table or on display as a standalone form, this moon vase earns its place. No two the same.

Form & Character

The moon vase takes its name from its distinctive bulbous form. Rounded and full, it has a presence that commands attention without announcing itself. Its body swells with a gentle weight, and the opening is modest. When you hold it, you feel the thickness of the stoneware. To look at it on display is to appreciate how a functional form can become sculpture. The moon vase stands on its own. It asks to be noticed. The surface is marked by the fire and ash that shaped it during the kiln's intensity. These marks are not imperfections. They are proof of the making.

Made for the Table. Built for Display.

You might fill this moon vase with water and flowers. You might set it on your table and let its form become part of your daily life. Or you might place it where you can see it from across the room. The moon vase works both ways. Its sculptural presence means it earns its place on display. Its durable stoneware body means it can hold water, hold weight, hold whatever you ask of it. The wood-fired surface is food-safe and waterproof. This is not a piece that hides away. Whether at the table or on display, it holds the room. Your choice makes the piece.

Handcrafted in Oxfordshire

Every moon vase is thrown by hand at Brooker Ceramics in Oxfordshire. The maker works at the wheel, shaping stoneware into form. This piece was then fired in a wood kiln to cone 12, where it sat in a chamber fed by flame and ash. The wood-firing process requires intuition and trust rather than precision control. The surface you receive reflects this variability. No two moon vases are exactly alike. The ash distribution is different. The flame markings land in unexpected places. You are buying a singular piece made by hand in the English Midlands, from a studio committed to craft and transparency.

Quality & Care

The surface is food-safe and fully waterproof, fired to high temperature making it dense and strong. The stoneware will chip if dropped hard, but it is chip resistant in daily use. Hand-wash in warm soapy water. Do not subject it to sudden temperature changes. The moon vase is made to be used. It is also made to last. Each piece is built with the care of something you will keep for years. This is not disposable ware. It is functional ceramics designed for a life well-lived.

About Brooker Ceramics

Brooker Ceramics is a handcrafted studio in Oxfordshire making functional ware and sculptural ceramics for everyday living.
