Caroline Watson Fine Art

I’m Caroline, a pastel artist based in Scotland, creating wildlife and bird artworks inspired by the birds and animals I notice whilst out walking through the countryside with my dog, Mosley.

My love of wildlife and birds began at a young age during Sunday drives into the countryside with my parents. Drawing has always been part of my life and over the years I’ve experimented with different styles, materials and subjects, taking inspiration from nature and the landscape around me.

I began as a pet portrait artist, learning how to capture character, likeness and fine detail to bring people’s pets to life. Building on those skills, and my passion for animals, I branched out (excuse the pun) into birds and wildlife. This allows me greater artistic freedom to explore colour, texture and movement.

I work primarily with soft pastels, building layers of rich colour to create depth, texture and energy in feathers and fur. I love the tactile nature of pastels and the way they allow me to work closely and intuitively with the artwork.

My original drawings are carefully reproduced as high quality giclée prints capturing the colour and texture of the originals. My collection includes familiar and characterful wildlife of the British countryside, from curious wrens and lively blue tits to pheasants, foxes and hares.

I hope my work brings a little of the colour, character and quiet charm of the countryside into your home.
