Slow Stitched Linen Coasters Kit, Sewing Project, Craft Kit
The Slow Stitched Coasters Kit is a relaxing sewing project and thoughtfully designed craft kit, offering an accessible introduction to slow stitching and hand quilting. Inspired by Japanese stitching techniques such as Boro and Sashiko, it is perfect for all levels. Each kit makes 4 individual coasters.
Suitable for adults with no previous sewing experience, this kit has been created in collaboration with talented textile artist Rebekah Johnston, whose work explores emotional wellbeing through mindful textile practices.
Rooted in the same shared values of calm, creativity and care, this collaboration celebrates stitching as a gentle, grounding process. We’ve loved working with Rebekah to develop a project that encourages slowing down, tuning in and enjoying the tactile nature of cloth and thread.
Entirely hand sewn with no sewing machine required, the coasters are made using simple, satisfying techniques that are easy to learn and deeply soothing to repeat. You can choose to design your own set of coasters or take inspiration from Rebekah’s approach to composition—each piece is intended to be unique and imperfectly beautiful.
The kit contains everything you need to make a set of slow stitched fabric coasters. Inside you’ll find a carefully curated selection of beautiful linen fabrics, backing fabrics, two spools of Perle thread and a Milliner’s needle, all presented in a sturdy, reusable cardboard carton that’s ideal for storing your work or materials.
All teaching is delivered through a step-by-step instructional video link, allowing you to stitch at your own pace. You can pause, rewind and revisit the guidance as often as you like, making this kit perfect for beginners or for those looking for a small, mindful sewing project.
Rebekah gently guides you through techniques including:
* Creating layered fabric pieces
* Simple approaches to composition
* Raw edge binding
* Hand quilting and finishing
By the end of the process, you’ll have a set of beautiful, functional coasters and a calming introduction to slow stitching—skills and rhythms you can carry into future sewing projects.
