Filberts of Dorset
Filberts of Dorset is a family affair: established in 2008 as a honey bee diversification away from cereal farming which has since morphed into cosmetics, honey, candles, polishes, craft packs and gifts but still a bee based business run from a 5 acre orchard in West Dorset. Freya & Mark Rogers now run the business day to day with help from family and friends.
Our natural balms, salves and polishes are made in small batches in our own lab using local beeswax. Quality ingredients and low temperatures mean that your skin is in for a real treat with our rich, nourishing, concentrated products. No water is included in our recipes so we don’t need emulsifiers, petrochemicals, alcohol or any weird preservatives!
Our work pattern is in sync with the changing seasons; spring heralds ground work and bee husbandry. Summer brings long hot days with the bees and teaching people new skills on our beekeeping courses. Autumn means harvest! Honey first and apples afterwards and into the winter. Winters short days are perfect for extracting the main honey crop and the beeswax. In between all of this we have to fit in cosmetic production to keep our shelves stocked. As challenging as the work can sometimes be, the reward of each season has us looking forward to the next and the beauty of our incredible surroundings.
