Jane Gibson

I'm Jane, and I've always been interested in birds. Inspired by their natural grace and elegance, I started making wire sculptures a few years ago, first at the kitchen table and now in my studio.

I start each bird with a series of drawings, and then create a basic wire form. Following on from this, I add delicate layers of galvanised hexagonal wire and areas of detail, before painting and mounting the final piece. I love seeing them gradually take shape, from the first twist of wire to the finished bird.

Each one of my sculptures is intricate, and handmade with great care and attention to detail.
