Kate Lloyd Luxury Silk Scarves
How did it all begin?
The original idea for the scarves came from a client who loved my photographic prints of horses on fine art paper.
She said “these would look wonderful as scarves”, so that’s what started the whole venture.
The scarves are made in England, printed at a family owned silk mill.
Working with their designers I began with four scarves, all equine images, on two different types of silk.
This seemed to be a success so after a couple of years I branched out to include different subject matter, as not everyone is as obsessed with horses as me.
Each scarf design comes from one of my unique photographic images, and is printed on silk, chosen to compliment the subject matter.
My images of the natural world, such as water, or water related subjects, like boats, or reflections are the basis of many scarf designs.
I’ve loved horses since I was about 5 years old, so horses also feature in some of the designs, also sometimes in water.
Most recently I have started using multiple exposure imagery, which brings out quite unexpected aspects of a subject, including some glorious colours not seen naturally.
The perfect hand-rolled edges are created in a colour appropriate to the overall design and the scarves are presented in a recyclable. smart, branded gift box.
