Mountain and Molehill
Working from her home in York, Elizabeth balances family life with two ever-growing children alongside a quietly creative studio practice.
Her work begins in the pages of vintage encyclopaedias, where she sources antique animal etchings and illustrations, reworking them into contemporary collages. With an eye for character and a touch of humour, she reimagines these images to create contemporary designs.
Inspired by this gently anthropomorphic world, Elizabeth’s designs are both playful and thoughtful—pieces that spark conversation in a room. They sit comfortably in children’s spaces, yet carry an intelligence and wit that makes them equally at home in grown-up interiors.
A love of contrast sits at the heart of her work: old meets new, monochrome is lifted with gold or a considered splash of colour, and vintage illustration is given a fresh, modern clarity. The result is a collection that feels timeless, versatile, and quietly distinctive, whether placed in a country cottage or a contemporary flat.
Her most popular pieces are her lampshades, which begin life as carefully composed prints before being thoughtfully adapted to the round form of the shade. The result is lighting that feels both familiar and a little bit magical—bringing warmth, character, and a touch of storytelling into the home.
