I’m Emma Bossons FRSA — designer, maker, and the person behind Nuthatch Grey.

With a background in ceramics and guided by a lifelong love of surface pattern design, Nuthatch Grey has become my creative home: a place to draw, explore, and craft work that feels authentic. What began as a small collection of sketches has grown into a considered practice built around a simple idea — that everyday objects can carry the quiet beauty of the natural world.

Creatively, my approach blends traditional drawing techniques with a contemporary eye. I love the contrast between the imperfect charm of hand-drawn motifs and the clarity of modern pattern, allowing the two to sit comfortably between heritage and modern style. It’s important to me that each collection feels personal, grounded, and honest — the kind of work you can live with for years.

Nuthatch Grey continues to evolve as I explore new materials, forms, and narratives, but the heart of my practice remains the same: creating thoughtfully designed pieces that bring a sense of nature, craft, and character into the home.
