The Illustrarium

The Illustrarium is a celebration of art, nature, and timeless design - a small creative studio based in Devon where artist Susie Batsford transforms her original hand-painted illustrations into thoughtfully crafted stationery, homewares, and fine art prints.

Every piece begins by hand, drawn and painted in watercolour and gouache - before being refined digitally and printed in the UK on sustainably sourced, FSC-certified or recycled papers and quality fabrics. Each design carries the warmth and individuality of the handmade process, inspired by the beauty of the British countryside, folk art, and historical decorative styles such as Rococo and medieval manuscripts.

Susie’s collections include notebooks, greeting cards, archival prints, tea towels, and cushions - all created with care for both quality and the environment. The Illustrarium’s pieces are designed to bring colour, meaning, and a sense of calm craftsmanship into everyday life, whether gifted to a loved one or cherished at home.
