WHITE CAT CERAMICS

I am Jayne Chorley, a potter based in the West Midlands. I create a variety of functional pottery for the home. I create ceramic pottery in my garden studio, working primarily with stoneware clays. Each item is crafted on a potter's wheel, bisque fired, then glazed and fired again in an electric kiln, ensuring durability and quality.

I have a particular affinity for experimenting with colour combinations. Some of my pots feature simple stencil shapes allowing the natural beauty of the bare clay to remain visible. In other pieces, I incorporate striking flecks or bold splashes of colour, adding a dynamic element to my designs. Much of my inspiration comes from the patterns and colours I see in the environment around me.

Clays and glazes are bought from the pottery supplier, Potclays Ltd, located in Stoke. My pottery is designed to be well-used and loved for years to come. Durability, beauty and uniqueness of each handmade item is of great importance to me. You are buying something that began as just a lump of clay which has, with skill and a passion for making, become a beautiful and functional piece of handmade ceramics.

The name 'White Cat Ceramics' was inspired by my own white cat, Martha, who will often wander into the studio and watch what is being made that day!
