Cushie Doo Textiles

I am a small independent designer maker based in Kinross-shire, Scotland creating a collection of unique sustainable textile homewares and accessories

Having always been creative and having a love of textiles I discovered hand printing through attending some workshops and am largely self-taught. My inspiration comes from texture, pattern and the colour of the natural environment surrounding me. I am influenced by the ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement which focused on handcrafted items using natural materials and designs inspired by nature

I transfer my designs onto lino and then carve them out before inking the block to apply to natural organic cotton and linen fabrics. Using a vintage inspired colour palette, I hand mix the Eco-friendly non-toxic inks in small batches

Due to the nature of hand block printed Textiles there may be variations in the printed colour and pattern which all adds to the unique vintage appearance and charm of each product

I am strongly committed to sustainability, and my vision is to have a low-impact business with minimal waste. To reduce waste I only print fabric as it is needed and I keep all the offcuts for future projects. My packaging is recycled or recyclable
