A black stoneware mug available in a choice of colours inspired by the landscape and geology of Snowdonia in Wales.
I hand make the mugs in my studio. Once I've attached the handle the mug is allowed to dry completely before it has it's first bisque firing. After glazing, the black stoneware clay is fired to 1230 degrees Celsius so that it is waterproof and food safe even without glaze.
Each mug is finished with a waterfall of intense coloured glaze on the outside.
The colours are the result of the layering of different glazes which interact to create an intense gloss contrast to the tactile matt black clay.
The inside of the mug is finished with a clear glaze.
This Regular size mug holds about 260ml
