If you're an artist, maker, writer, or note taker; inspiration can strike at any moment. Many a good thought has been lost for lack of suitable material to jot it down on. My satchel is not complete without a nifty notebook, small enough not to feel pressured into making it a great tome of knowledge. But useful and functional for notes, the odd shopping list, and a game of noughts and crosses with my niece. This illustration has evolved from Lily’s favourite walk near her home on the edge of Exmoor. Slip between the Beech hedges and you enter the fern riddled undergrowth of a public bridleway, locally known as “Badger’s Walk.” With deep sided banks, and rooty hollows, this stretch of path looks out across the valley, but must be home to many families of badgers. And in Spring the excitement goes up a notch, with the fuzzy unfurling of beech leaves and the fragrant scent of the scores of bluebells.
This A6 Notebook has 42 blank pages ready for you to write, draw or scrawl over. Perfectly formed for notes on the go, this little book is ready to be popped in a pocket for your next adventure. Lily loves to keep one handy for when inspiration strikes, whilst walking Ned. After multiple sketches, collages and maybe even some laser cut maquettes, Lily creates the final composition in Photoshop. Working in just two colours, she loves working in layers, to create all of the details, and a third colour by placing sections on top of each other. The restricted colour palette lends itself to commercial screen printing, and also stops Lily from getting too carried away. Once a digital file is created, we share it with a local independent printing company, that we have worked with since the early days of LF. Lily loves being able to go and talk to their incredibly helpful team, but also touch all the different types of card and paper stock. When all parties are happy, they are printed in their carbon offset print facility onto 100% recycled card, and filled with recycled paper pages.
These notebooks are a fairly new addition to our collections, and as of yet have not ventured far. But we hope that as the range grows, that they start getting popped in the post all across the globe. Each A6 Notebook is secured shut with a kraft band and simple sealed with some paper tape. Both items can be placed in your paper recycling. We make every effort to create responsibly sourced products, if you happen to tire of your notebook, please recycle with your paper and card recycling.
