CAROLE MORGAN HOPKIN'S DAWN RIDGE, BEVERLY HILLS

Welcome to Art Oasis, created by me, Carole Morgan Hopkin M.A.. I was born and brought up in South Wales and have gone full circle, via Japan, the Americas and Europe to return to my childhood home.

   I’ve been painting all my life, inspired by my Nationally Awarded grandfather, the photographer, Llew E. Morgan, my artist mother, Elizabeth and my architect father, Howel.

   Following Art School in Cardiff my first exhibition was at Liberty of London which was a sell-out. I moved to New York where my work was featured in Vogue. This brought in clients, from all over America and Europe. Diana Ross bought from my first exhibition in the U.S.

   I worked in Fashion and met Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren, whose homes inspired paintings. Knowing the Beatles from Apple days, I was invited to paint in George Harrison’s garden, and have drawings of him and another friend, Anthony Hopkins. During my time in ‘The Mousetrap’ I sang at Langan’s Brasserie, and did a portrait of Peter Langan. I’ve danced with Sinatra, and dined with Robert Mitchum and Buzz Aldrin.

   All my work is drawn at the location, my watercolours are colourful and my style, decorative. I have published three illustrated travelogues, two books on my mother’s paintings and a biography of my grandfather. Drawing and painting are a joy for me and that’s what I want to share.
