The familiar and popular garden blackbird is recreated as a wearable art piece, perfect for gardeners and people who love Blackbirds. Its layered construction, using thread and fabric, gives the bird dimension while keeping the brooch soft and comfortable to wear.
Created in Vikki Lafford Garside’s studio in Witney, Oxfordshire. Layers of fabric are machine embroidered and hand painted to build a three-dimensional effect. Soft felt backs the reverse and sealed edges help prevent fraying. The result is lightweight, soft and flexible.
It can be pinned to a favourite coat, cardigan, scarf or bag for a little bird-inspired detail.
Each piece is individually made; small variations in colour, stitching and painted detail are part of its character.
