The Mourning Cloak butterfly, also known as the Camberwell Beauty, inspires this detailed textile brooch. Layers of embroidered and painted fabric give its wing shape dimension.
Created in Vikki Lafford Garside’s studio in Witney, Oxfordshire. Machine embroidery and hand painting bring the wing markings to life in a decorative textile design.
It can be pinned to a dress, jacket, scarf or hat for a butterfly accent. It can also decorate a cushion or curtain.
Each piece is individually made; small variations in colour, stitching and painted detail are part of its character.
Details - Brooch: 8.5 cm wide × 6 cm high. - Materials: fabric. - Fastening: brooch pin.
