There's a particular gold that only shows itself in midwinter the low, slanting kind that catches on frost and glass alike. This star was pieced together with that light in mind: five hand-cut panels of iridescent glass, each one shifting between amber, plum, and dusk-blue as it turns, so no two moments of sunlight show you quite the same star twice.
Copper-foiled in the traditional technique and finished with a soft patina, this piece was made on the towpath, between kettle boils and dog walks, in the quiet hours when the boat is still and the glass can be trusted to behave.
It hangs from a simple loop, ready for a window, a wreath, or a branch heavy with its own frosted needles.
