Designed & Made in 1940s to 1980s London
Your brooch is part of a remarkable collection designed and manufactured in London. It is unworn having laid in storage until recently.
The Legacy Jewellery Company supplied all styles and types of jewellery to Liberty London, Harrods, Selfridges and other UK department stores as well as worked with designers such as Norman Hartnell, Frank Usher and others for bespoke ranges.
They were in business from the 1920s until the late 1990s.
If gold your brooch may be 18kt triple plated. This was the highest level of plating for costume jewellery meeting the high standards of Monet, Sarah Coventry and Napier.
All of the stones are original Swarovski crystals, or Preciosa rhinestones from Austria. The pearls are costume and made from glass and ground nacre from South Korea or Japan.
Some of the silver brooches are also plated but most are tarnish free amalgams of nickel, chrome and steel.
