I am delighted to introduce you to Evie Hone, (1894-1955)
The second in my series highlighting the talented women in stained glass.
Hone was taught by Wilhelmina Geddes, at An Tur Gloine in Dublin, the first subject of the series.
Hone suffered disability in her early years, due to contracting Polio. She had limited movement in one of her hands and was lame, but her resilience and ability to adapt won her friends and admirers . However, her faith and talent shone through to make her an important voice in stained glass. Her cubist style was a refreshing take, backed up with her ability to adapt and learn new styles. She travelled extensively, learning from others to develop something that was uniquely her own.
This design can be seen at St Brendan's cathedral in Galway.
