ABOUT Jennifer Wakeford

In 2007 my family moved from Scotland to New Zealand for six years. Where we lived there, the houses were exclusively timber-frame with corrugated metal roofs. This experience gave me a deep love for the sturdy stone and slate of Scotland’ s but ‘ n’ ben’ s, inspiring my art pieces and their slate mounts along the way.

After returning to Scotland I welcomed my fourth child, a little girl, named Noa. My work is signed in her name, which means “ free from restriction” in Maori. There isn’ t a word which could sum up my interpretations of Scot…
