Jo embroiders intricate embroidered artworks inspired by her love of flowers.
Based in Somerset, Jo works from her home studio and takes inspiration from her surrounding countryside and gardens that she visits. The seasons inspire her work, as she notices the changes in nature, while she goes about her daily life.
Each unique original artwork is inspired by wild flower meadows, country gardens, individual blooms or the architectural forms of seed heads. She loves drifts of flowers, cow parsley swaying in the breeze and capturing the ‘rabbit’s eye view’ that comes from pausing and sitting among the flowers.
Jo aims to capture her inspiration in her distinctive, impressionistic style using traditional stitches. Her work is meticulously made, starting with her painted watercolour backgrounds, then with each stitch, layers of soft colours and texture are added to create depth and detail.
Her work has developed to include hand embroidery kits, for those who stitch and love her style, therefore want to recreate it themselves. All kits come with full instructions, linen with printed backgrounds, threads and needles. There are kits suitable for the beginner or the more experienced.
Jo also has a range of printed greetings cards.
