Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
This handcrafted stoneware vase proves that scale needn't diminish presence. Whether you're displaying it with a single stem, building an arrangement, or letting it stand alone as a sculptural object, this piece works hard for its place in your home. Each vase is thrown by hand at Brooker Ceramics in Oxfordshire, finished with care, and fired to develop a body that's dense, hard-wearing and built to last. It's made from the same stoneware as our larger pieces, giving you functional ware that deserves a place on display. No shortcuts. No compromise.
Form & Character
The form of this vase is quiet but assured. Balanced proportions and clean lines mean it reads with presence in any space, whether displayed among collected objects or on its own. The glaze catches light in a way that invites closer looking. You'll notice new details as you move around it, with the surface moving in gentle variations that reveal qualities from each angle. The vase is designed to hold flowers with confidence, to anchor a shelf, or simply to be. Its compact form belongs in small spaces: a shelf, a side table, a desk, a window. Yet it never feels diminished. There's real presence here.
Made for the table, built for display
This is where the line between decorative and functional blurs entirely. Fill it with fresh flowers on your dining table or bedside. Leave it empty and let it hold space in a room as a sculptural accent. Because it's made from the same stoneware as our larger vessels, it's built to last through both roles without compromise. Your vase can live in the flow of your day (gathering flowers, moving between rooms, sitting with morning light) or settle into the quiet of a display shelf. The stoneware body is chip-resistant and hard-wearing, so it will serve you well whether you use it constantly or place it with care. Either way, it's genuine and enduring.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Every vase at Brooker Ceramics is thrown by hand, shaped on the wheel by the maker's hands and eye. The clay is then fired to reach the exact temperature at which stoneware transforms. It becomes denser, stronger, more resonant. Because each piece is made individually in small batches, no two vases are exactly alike. The subtle differences in form, glaze maturation and surface texture are not flaws. They're proof of handcraft. Each one carries the story of its making and reflects the studio's belief that functional objects deserve to be considered, intentional and made with genuine care. This is why Brooker pieces last for years.
Quality & care
This vase is fired to Cone 6, a measure of heatwork that determines how the clay transforms. At this firing level, stoneware becomes dense and chip-resistant. The glaze is food-safe, so you can fill it with water for flowers without hesitation. To care for your vase, handwash gently. The piece will age gracefully with use, developing a gentle patina that speaks to the care you give it. It's made for everyday life, and it will serve you for years to come.
