I’m Mandy and I am a Birmingham born teacher and printmaker, living and working in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
I started my small business back in 2007, having left the world of primary school teaching to focus my time and energy on my two small children. Determined to make time for the creative pastimes I had once delighted in, the love for hand-stitching and later of printmaking was re-kindled.
Though I still occasionally incorporate stitch into my work, my real passion is for printmaking, primarily single block, monochrome linocuts, printed in small editions onto beautiful handmade papers.
I love the slow pace of lino printing; from making initial sketches to the almost meditative process of carving, through to the inking and hand burnishing and finally, the anticipation of that first print reveal.
Whether working in print, stitch or a combination, my inspirations remain the same. I am hugely inspired by the natural world and its changing seasons, specifically as is reflected in my own suburban garden. Loving the combination of image and text, my own cursive writing frequently plays an integral part in my work.
