Handcrafted in Wales, the Arthur bookcase celebrates the quiet elegance of the Arts & Crafts movement. Built with traditional pegged construction and pierced trefoil cut‑outs to the uprights, it reflects the period’s devotion to honest materials, visible joinery, and simple, purposeful forms.
During the Edwardian era, Liberty & Co. championed these ideals with their celebrated Sedley bookcases, pieces known for exposed pegs and the iconic trefoil‑and‑arch motif. Arthur is created in that same spirit: well‑proportioned, characterful, and enriched with meaningful detail.
Made from beautifully figured tulip wood, chosen for its fine grain, density, and expressive natural colouration. Tulip wood varies wonderfully from piece to piece, tones may range from mellow yellow‑brown to deeper browns and burgundy streaks, with occasional dramatic figuring. Because of this natural variation, each bookcase is entirely unique, part of the charm of handcrafted furniture.
