Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
A vase that holds water or stands alone as sculpture. Thrown on the wheel, finished by hand, this sculptural form bridges everyday function and gallery presence. Made in our Oxfordshire studio from stoneware clay, it is both a home for fresh flowers and a meditation on shape, line and surface. Each vase is unique, no two exactly alike. What begins as clay becomes a statement piece that anchors a room or adds quiet beauty to your table.
Form & Character
The form draws from Korean tradition, where the moon vase bridges the gap between vessel and sculpture. This piece has an organic, gently rounded body that feels substantial in the hand and grounds itself in a space. The wide mouth invites fresh flowers or stands empty, catching light and shadow across its surface. There is a quietness to the form, an understated dignity. It reads equally well as a functional object or as a standalone sculptural gesture. The walls of the vase have weight and presence, yet the piece remains elegant, unfussy.
Made for the table, built for display
Your vase works harder than a simple flower holder. On the table, it holds cut flowers or branches, becoming part of your daily ritual. The form is generous enough to anchor a moment of pause in a busy day. Move it to a shelf, a dresser, or a dedicated display space, and it transforms into a sculptural object that earns its place in any room. The hand-applied surface detail adds visual interest that rewards closer looking. Whether you fill it with seasonal blooms or let it stand empty, it holds the room. This is the beauty of work that refuses to choose between function and form.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Every vase begins on the wheel, where the clay is thrown by hand. The base, body and mouth are shaped in a single session, built from feel and experience. Once leather-hard, the surface is finished by hand. It is refined, smoothed, made ready for glaze. The maker works in small batches in our Oxfordshire studio, which means each piece receives individual attention at every stage. No two pieces are exactly alike. Variations in wall thickness, in the way the rim catches light, in how the glaze settles. These are not flaws. They are the signature of handwork, the mark of the maker's hand and the slow, patient process of studio ceramics.
Quality & care
Fired to Cone 6, the clay body becomes dense, hard-wearing and non-porous. This measure of heatwork (cone rating, not peak temperature alone) determines durability and longevity. The glaze is food-safe and chip-resistant. Use it at the table with flowers and water, or on display as sculptural form. Hand-wash gently and dry immediately to preserve the surface and extend the life of your piece. This vase is made for everyday use and built to last.
About Brooker Ceramics
Brooker Ceramics is a small studio in Oxfordshire devoted to handcrafted functional ware and sculptural ceramics. The work bridges everyday utility and gallery presence. Each piece is made slowly, by hand, in small batches. The studio's open philosophy and teaching presence (including a YouTube community of over 25,000) has built a following among those who value the marriage of craft, form and durability. Every piece carries the ethos of the studio: that beauty need not be precious, that handmade need not be delicate, and that the best ceramics are those that live in your home and earn their place through use and time.
Please note: as these are handmade objects, they may vary in colour, shape and size from one piece to the next. These variations are not defects. They are celebrated as part of the handmade quality of every piece.
