Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
Every piece in this collection is thrown, glazed and fired by hand in our Oxfordshire studio, where traditional pottery techniques meet a considered, contemporary approach to design. We work in small batches rather than mass production, shaping each piece on the wheel before it is trimmed, dried, bisque-fired, glazed and fired again at a high stoneware temperature. It is a slower way of making, but it is the only way we know how to get results with real depth and character. From the first pull of clay on the wheel to the final firing, every stage is done by hand in-house, which means we can hold a genuinely high standard at every step rather than relying on shortcuts that speed up production but flatten out the character of the finished piece.
Small-batch glazing, so every piece is unique
Because we make and glaze in small batches, no two pieces are ever perfectly identical. Glaze is a living material — it moves, pools and settles differently depending on how it is applied, how thick the layer is, and exactly where the piece sits in the kiln during firing. Rather than treat that as a flaw to engineer out, we lean into it. Small variations in tone, texture and pattern are part of what makes handmade ceramics feel different to hold and use than anything mass-produced. When you choose a piece from this collection, you are choosing the one version of it that exists — made by hand, in a batch of others like it, but never quite the same as any of them.
Built to last a lifetime of daily use
Stoneware is prized by potters for good reason: fired at a high temperature, the clay body becomes dense, hard-wearing and non-porous, giving each piece real durability for everyday use. This is not decorative ceramic meant to sit on a shelf — it is made to be picked up, filled, washed and used again, day after day. The high firing temperature also means the glaze fuses properly to the clay body, creating a chip-resistant surface that holds up to regular handling far better than lower-fired earthenware. We test every glaze we use for durability as well as appearance, because a piece that looks beautiful but does not survive daily life is not doing its job.
Designed for comfort, made for daily ritual
Good tableware should disappear into the moment rather than get in the way of it, which is why comfort and proportion matter as much to us as glaze and form. Each piece is shaped with genuine daily use in mind — weighted so it feels substantial without being heavy, and finished so every surface that touches your hands feels considered. Where a handle is part of the design, it is shaped for a secure, natural grip that holds up whether you are moving quickly through a busy morning or taking your time over a slow afternoon. These are small details, but they add up to pieces that are genuinely pleasant to use, not just to look at.
Practical care, everyday performance
Handmade does not mean high-maintenance. Every piece in this collection is dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and food-safe, so it can be used exactly the way you would use any other piece of everyday tableware. Our glazes are tested thoroughly before they go into production, so you can reach for a piece without worrying about how it will hold up to regular washing or reheating. Over time, that combination of durability and easy care means these pieces earn their place in daily rotation rather than being kept for best — which is exactly how we think handmade ceramics should be used.
A handmade gift with real character
Because every piece is made individually rather than mass-produced, giving one as a gift feels different too. It carries the mark of the person who made it — the slight variations in glaze, the weight in the hand, the small evidence of a process that cannot be rushed. Whether it is for a coffee lover, a collector of considered homeware, or simply someone who appreciates things made with care, a piece from this collection makes a genuinely thoughtful gift, or an equally good treat for your own everyday use.
Please note: as these are handmade objects, they may vary in colour, shape and size from one piece to the next. These variations are not defects. They are celebrated as part of the handmade quality of every piece.
