Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
This handmade stoneware vase is a conversation between form and colour, crafted to hold flowers and command attention in any room. It stands as much at home on a table with fresh blooms as it does on display as a sculptural object. Thrown by hand in our Oxfordshire studio, each vase is finished with careful attention to surface and line, making it a piece that earns its place in your home.
Form & Character
The form of this vase is rooted in classical tradition, with a generous bowl that opens to receive. The surface tells a story of careful hand-application: circular shapes move across the walls, created with a calligraphy brush in a rhythm that echoes Greek pottery. These shapes represent peace and balance, elements that infuse the piece with intentionality. Holding the vase, you feel the weight and warmth of the clay, the precision of the hand-work. Set against a white wall or in afternoon light, the piece becomes a focal point. Something your eye returns to.
Made for the table, built for display
This vase lives in two worlds. On your dining table with a generous bunch of flowers, it becomes the heart of a meal, the blooms and the form working together to transform the space around you. Move it to a shelf, a mantelpiece, or a corner that needs presence, and it stands on its own. A sculptural piece that holds the room. It asks nothing of you but a place to sit. Its form means it looks complete empty or full, a vessel that anchors a space whether it holds water and blooms or simply sits in silence, earning its place on display through the integrity of its shape and surface.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
This vase is thrown on a potter's wheel in our studio in Oxfordshire, then finished entirely by hand. The circular shapes you see are applied with a calligraphy brush, each one placed with intention. The clay comes from our carefully selected suppliers, chosen for their quality and consistency. Every vase is fired in our electric kiln to Cone 6, a critical measure of heatwork that transforms the raw clay into hard, durable stoneware. Because each piece is shaped and finished by hand, no two vases are exactly alike. What you receive has been made by Brooker Ceramics with the same care and attention we bring to every piece we create. This is craft with nothing hidden. Every mark, every variation, tells the story of how it was made.
Quality & care
The glaze is food-safe and fully vitrified at Cone 6, which means the clay body becomes dense, hard-wearing and non-porous. This firing heatwork is what gives the piece its durability and chip-resistant quality, making it suitable for years of use and display. Your vase is safe in the dishwasher, but we recommend hand-washing to preserve the hand-applied surface and to prolong the life of the piece. The stoneware is built to last. Treat it with care, and it will serve you and your home for decades.
