Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
A fruit bowl is both functional and contemplative. Thrown by hand from raw stoneware in our Oxfordshire studio, this bowl is designed to anchor a table or earn its place on display. The form is generous and open, inviting both use and appreciation. Whether you're filling it with seasonal fruit or leaving it empty for its own sake, you'll find yourself reaching for it again and again. There's a ritual in that. A quieter pleasure in simply looking at what's been made.
Form & Character
A well-designed stoneware bowl should feel at home at the table and on display. This piece is proportioned with care. The rim curves outward, creating a sense of openness and ease. The foot is substantial, grounding the form so it never feels light or fragile. The overall shape has weight without heaviness. When you place it on a table, it becomes a quiet focal point. When it sits on a shelf, it holds the space with presence. You notice it not because it demands attention, but because it's been made with intention. Run your hand across the form. The surface tells you how it was thrown and finished.
Made for the table, built for display
Your home needs pieces that pull double duty. During the week this bowl might hold your breakfast fruit, your vegetables, your daily produce. A functional object doing what it's designed to do. But stoneware has another life too. Shift the light, change the angle, and this same bowl becomes a sculptural piece worth looking at. It earns its place on display. You might fill it with flowers, or leave it empty. The choice is yours. Over time, you'll develop a rhythm with it. Some days it's working hard at the table. Other days it's resting on a shelf, simply being. That flexibility is part of its honesty.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Every bowl in our Oxfordshire studio begins the same way. The clay is centred on the potter's wheel. Hands open it into form. The foot is trimmed, the rim is finished. These steps are all done by eye and hand. No two bowls are ever exactly alike. That variation is not a flaw. It's evidence of the making process, and part of what makes each piece real. We work in small batches, firing slowly and carefully. The clay transforms through the kiln into something strong and durable. You're holding something that carries the direct attention and care of the maker. That's what Brooker Ceramics stands for. Making functional ware and sculptural ceramics with slowness, honesty and craft.
Quality & care
This bowl is finished with a food-safe glaze and fired to Cone 6, a measure of heatwork that matters more than peak temperature alone. That firing transforms the stoneware clay body into something dense, hard-wearing and non-porous. The result is chip-resistant ware that's safe for everyday food use. It's dishwasher-safe, though hand-washing helps it age well over the years. Whether you use it daily or keep it on display, it's made to last. Care for it as you would any handmade piece. Let it age into your home.
About Brooker Ceramics
Brooker Ceramics is a handcrafted studio based in Oxfordshire, making both functional ware and sculptural pieces. Our work is guided by a belief in slowness, care and honesty. Over 25,000 people follow our process on YouTube, from raw clay to finished piece. We don't use moulds or shortcuts. Everything is thrown, trimmed and finished by hand in the studio. Each piece is made to be used, lived with and treasured. We believe that objects made with real attention carry weight, and that belief shows in every bowl we make. This is real work from a real place.
Please note: as these are handmade objects, they may vary in colour, shape and size from one piece to the next. These variations are not defects. They are celebrated as part of the handmade quality of every piece.
