This handmade dough scraper/cutter made from solid sycamore. which has been sourced from a storm fallen tree. This is a large dough scraper perfect for scraping dough (bread or pastry) from your work surface, cutting your dough into portions, scraping dough or pastry from your mixing bowl. It can also be used to cut butter into flour, making bread crumbing a little bit easier. The scraper has a chamfered `blade` to ensure you're scraping gets as close to your work surface as possible, without scratching it, as can happen with metal bladed scrapers.
This will make a unique gift for all the bread makers in your life, a house warming gift, and will make an ideal Father's Day gift. You could also consider this as a great 5th wedding anniversary, which of course (as you well know) is celebrated by exchanging wooden gifts.
Our scrapers are all handmade in our workshop in Cumbria and we use wood from storm fallen trees.
Each scraper is unique and once cut, we nourish it with food safe chopping board oil, twice. Your scraper is full of character and the grain will vary, there may also be knots and natural markings which should be considered part of it's beauty. There is a makers mark branded onto one side of the cutter.
This scraper is made from sycamore and the overall size is approximately 19cm wide x 11cm x .7cm. or 7.5 inches x 4 1/4 inches x a little over 1/4 inch.
There is a central hole to provide an ergonomic grip, which makes scraping dough very easy.
Please hand wash only, wipe clean and please avoid scrubbing with abrasives. NOT suitable for a dishwasher or microwave.
If you feel your scraper is looking a little tired after a few years, you can still rejuvenate it again very easily with a light sand and reseal with chopping board oil.
