Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
A handcrafted vase that anchors a room with its presence. Thrown by hand and fired to full maturity, this stoneware vessel demands attention without demanding space. It lives equally well arranged with fresh flowers or drought-ready grasses, or standing alone as sculptural ceramics. The form speaks of function and beauty held together, the kind of object that earns its place on display and holds it quietly.
Form & Character
The form is generous and open, inviting flowers or simply the play of light across its surface. There is weight here. Real ceramic clay, fired hot and dense. The opening is wide enough to arrange stems with ease, yet the body tapers slightly, giving the shape a sense of intention and form. No two pieces are exactly alike. Each carries the fingerprint of hand-throwing, the slight variations in wall thickness that come from working clay on a wheel. This is not a decorative accessory. It is a working vessel that reads as sculpture.
Made for the table, built for display
Your vase lives wherever you choose. On a shelf, it anchors a collection of objects and books. On a table, it gathers your cut flowers and becomes part of the daily ritual of care. Beside a window, it catches light and throws it across the room. The dual nature of this piece, functional vessel and sculptural object, means it carries its own story wherever you place it. It is the kind of thing you notice differently on different days, as light changes and seasons turn. You might fill it weekly with dahlias or cosmos, or leave it bare to frame the negative space. Either way, it is there, holding the room.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Every vase begins on a potter's wheel in our Oxfordshire studio. The clay is thrown by hand, coaxed into form, then left to firm before the final shaping. The glaze is applied with intention, each brushstroke considered. Each piece is fired to Cone 6, a measure of heatwork that transforms the raw clay into dense, non-porous stoneware. We work in small batches, never in production lines. This means no two pieces are exactly alike. Slight variations in glaze flow or form are not flaws. They are proof of the handmade process. They show you this object has been made with genuine care.
Quality & care
The glaze is food-safe and non-porous, fired to Cone 6 which ensures the clay body is fully vitrified and hard-wearing. This vase is chip-resistant and designed for daily use, whether that means weekly flower arranging or simply standing on display. It can be hand-washed, which we recommend to preserve the finish. Every piece is tested for durability and finished to the same standard you'd expect from a studio known for functional ware.
About Brooker Ceramics
Brooker Ceramics is a handcrafted ceramics studio in Oxfordshire, making functional ware and sculptural pieces by hand. We throw on the wheel, glaze by hand, and fire in an electric kiln. Our work is not mass-produced. It is made one piece at a time, with the same care and attention whether we are making a small bowl or a large sculptural form. We have a community of over 25,000 on YouTube who follow the studio's work. We believe in transparency about our process and the honest materials we use.
Please note: as these are handmade objects, they may vary in colour, shape and size from one piece to the next. These variations are not defects. They are celebrated as part of the handmade quality of every piece.
