Handcrafted stoneware, made in Oxfordshire
This miniature tapered vase is a study in form and purpose. Thrown by hand and fired to hardness in our Oxfordshire studio, it moves beyond mere ornament. Whether it cradles a single stem or stands alone as a sculptural presence, this small handmade vase holds presence in any interior. The tapered form draws the eye upward, anchoring a shelf or side table with quiet confidence. Each piece is unique, fired with intention and finished with care.
Form & Character
The tapered silhouette is central to this vase's character. It narrows as it rises, creating a visual lightness despite its solid stoneware construction. In the hand, it feels substantial yet delicate. A paradox of presence. The tapered walls slope inward with gentle precision, guiding the eye toward the rim. In a space, it occupies less visual weight than a wider form, yet its proportions command attention. This is a vase that reads as contemporary yet timeless. The tapered profile makes it equally at home among modern minimalist interiors and eclectic, layered spaces. Its small scale does not diminish its visual impact.
Made for the table, built for display
A vase serves a purpose beyond flowers. Your small tapered form lives beautifully on a dining table, a console, a shelf. It holds a single stem, a cutting or delicate flower, transforming the ordinary into an arrangement. But this vase also stands alone. Place it where you want to draw the eye. It earns its place on display through form alone, unadorned and deliberate. You might cluster it with other vessels to create a layered display, or position it solitary on a side table where its tapered silhouette punctuates the room. This is a vase that works harder than its size suggests.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Each vase begins on the pottery wheel in our Oxfordshire studio, where the maker centers stoneware clay and slowly, methodically, raises the walls upward. The tapered form is shaped by hand and eye. There is no mold, no machine. Once thrown, each piece is left to dry, then fired in our electric kiln at Cone 6, a temperature that transforms clay into durable stoneware. Because these are handmade, no two pieces are exactly alike. Slight variations in diameter, height and surface character are part of the handcrafted process. We work in small batches, honoring the craft of the studio and the individual attention each piece receives.
Quality & care
This vase is fired to Cone 6, a heatwork level that transforms the stoneware body into a dense, non-porous ceramic. It is fully glazed and chip-resistant, built to withstand daily handling and rearrangement of flowers over time. The food-safe glaze means you can confidently place it anywhere in your home. We recommend hand-washing to preserve the glaze finish, though it is dishwasher-safe if needed. Its durability and small form make it ideal for everyday enjoyment. Move it between rooms, group it with other vessels, or leave it in place as a permanent accent.
