Moon Bowl — Handmade Stoneware by Brooker Ceramics
The moon bowl brings Korean ceramic tradition into thoughtful conversation with contemporary life. Light and refined in hand, it's designed for your table yet equally earns its place on display. The tall ornate foot gives the piece its distinctive presence. A gentle anchor that draws the eye every time you pass it. Thrown by hand from stoneware in Oxfordshire, this Korean-inspired bowl lives beautifully in the everyday. Whether holding food or standing alone as a quiet object of attention, it refuses to disappear.
Form & Character
The moon bowl is named for the gentle arc of its interior, which curves like moonlight across dark water. Its Korean inspiration means refinement in every gesture. Nothing overdone. Everything considered. The tall ornate foot is the signature of this piece. It lifts the form off the surface, creating visual lightness despite the weight of the stoneware. In a room, the moon bowl holds its own. It sits equally well at the center of your table or on a shelf, its presence quiet but unmissable. The proportions are generous enough to feel substantial, refined enough to suggest restraint.
Made for the Table. Built for Display.
You'll use this moon bowl at dinner, holding rice or soup or simply the warmth of your hands around its form. And then you'll find another life for it entirely. Placed alone on a shelf, the moon bowl becomes a sculptural gesture. A moment of consideration in your home. The tall ornate foot catches light differently from every angle, revealing the character of the handmade surface. This is the gift of functional ware. It works for you in more than one way. The moon bowl doesn't ask for a special occasion. It's happy both in daily rotation and standing on its own, earning its place as a quiet anchor in any room.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Every moon bowl is thrown by hand at Brooker Ceramics in Oxfordshire. The maker centers the clay, pulls the walls thin, and shapes the characteristic foot entirely by feel. No two pieces are exactly alike. The nature of handmade work means each bowl carries subtle variations in its form and proportion. The variations are proof of hand, evidence of attention, the signature of the studio. The piece is then left to dry slowly before firing in the electric kiln, where high temperatures harden the stoneware into a dense, durable piece. You're buying a direct connection to the maker's hands and to the tradition of functional ceramics.
Quality & Care
The surface of the moon bowl is food-safe and waterproof. Fired to high temperature, the stoneware becomes dense and chip resistant, ready for daily use without concern. Most food and liquids wipe clean easily. The piece is dishwasher safe, though hand-washing preserves the surface and extends its life indefinitely. The handmade nature means occasional variations in thickness or texture. These variations add to the bowl's character. Store it safely and handle it with care, and this moon bowl will become part of your daily life for years to come.
