Handcrafted stoneware bowl, made in Oxfordshire
A handmade bowl holds more than food. This large stoneware bowl, thrown and finished by hand, sits at the heart of daily life. It holds ramen and soup through the week and becomes sculptural ware for display. Bowls of this scale anchor space. They read differently depending on where they live. At the table, they gather your meals. On display, they earn their place as functional art. Made in our Oxfordshire studio, each bowl is thrown by hand, then fired to complete hardness.
Form & Character
The flared rim defines this bowl. It's wide at the mouth, which draws your hand when you reach for it to lift and hold. The walls slope gently toward the base, creating a form that feels generous and assured. There is quiet strength in the shape. The bowl speaks through its proportion and presence in a room. Whether filled with ramen or standing empty on a shelf, the form holds the eye. The rim catches light differently as you move around it. The surface rewards close looking. This is a bowl made to be seen and held and used through the day.
Made for the table, built for display
Your ramen sits differently in this bowl. The form lets you appreciate the noodles, the broth, the precision of your meal. It's made for that daily moment. But it's equally made for after washing, when this bowl moves to your display shelf. It earns that place. The flared rim and the proportions ask to be looked at. You'll find yourself drawn to it in different light. Morning sun through the window. Candlelight on display. The glow of evening. A bowl that works at the table and holds your room as sculptural ware.
Handcrafted in Oxfordshire
Each bowl is thrown by hand on the wheel in our Oxfordshire studio. The maker shapes the clay, feeling its resistance and weight, building the form in one continuous motion. Once thrown, it's left to firm slightly, then the rim is carefully flared by hand. A gesture that takes skill and intention. The clay is then fired to full hardness. This heatwork brings the clay body to complete maturity, creating a dense, non-porous surface built to last. Small batches mean that no two bowls are exactly alike. Variations appear in rim depth, in how light catches the surface, in subtle shifts across each piece. These are not defects. They are the mark of the hand that made it.
Quality & care
This bowl is made for everyday use. The clay is fired to Cone 6, which means the heatwork brings the body to full maturity, creating a hard-wearing, non-porous surface. The glaze is food-safe and chip-resistant. Dishwasher and microwave safe. It will not crack or craze under normal use. Hand-wash if you prefer to protect the surface. Whether this bowl holds your breakfast or sits on display in your living room, it is designed to last and to be noticed.
About Brooker Ceramics
Brooker Ceramics is an Oxfordshire-based studio working with stoneware to create functional ware and sculptural pieces. We make what we need. Objects that hold food and drink, and objects that earn a place on display. We believe in transparency about how things are made and why they matter. Our YouTube community has grown to over 25,000 people who follow the work. Handmade ceramics are not luxury. They are a different way of living, where the objects in your home are made by a real person, in a real place, with intention.
Please note: as these are handmade objects, they may vary in colour, shape and size from one piece to the next. These variations are not defects. They are celebrated as part of the handmade quality of every piece.
